EC Energy Sector Budget Programme

Until the end of 2006 EU provided its assistance to Ukraine through TACIS Programme launched in 1991. For the period of 2007–2013 instruments of financial aid have been replaced by the European Neighbourhood Policy Instrument (ENPI). The ENPI introduced in 2007 provides general/sector budget support (and other aid instruments) in addition to technical assistance to ENP countries, whereas the TACIS programme only allowed for technical assistance.

Open Workshop No 5 ‘Adjustments to Energy Legislation. Near Future Legislative Needs in Ukraine’

Open Workshop No 5 ‘Adjustments to Energy Legislation. Near Future Legislative Needs in Ukraine’On 10 November 2010 the Open Workshop No 5 ‘Adjustments to Energy Legislation. Near Future Legislative Needs in Ukraine’ organized by the Project took place. Fifteen experts – mostly from legal fields – participated from different institutions, including the Ministry of Fuel and Energy, the Ministry of Economy, and NERC.

The Open Workshop continued discussing a series of legal issues that appear to be crucially important for Ukraine in the present period. Among the topics reviewed were: Ukraine’s accession to the Energy Community; what the Energy Community is and how it works; what the most important legal requirements for the Ukrainian energy sector are in the way of fulfilling obligations of the membership.

Discussion of the topic will continue at the Open Workshop No 6 next week on 17 November 2010 at 17:00. All interested are welcome to participate.
